Is
it any wonder that the favorite childhood
character of Tim Allen, the voice of
Buzz Lightyear from “Toy Story”, is
Curious George? Born on June 13, 1953,
Timothy Allen Dick has since won a Golden
Globe and reached this pinnacle: in
1994, he starred in the most watched
TV show, Home Improvement, had
a best selling book (Don’t Stand
too Close to a Naked Man,) and had
the highest grossing film to date, The
Santa Clause. And Toy Story
a few years later wasn’t too shabby
either.
Authors
of the Curious George series of books
Margaret and H.A. Rey, like Tim Allen,
had a humble beginning. The pair escaped
Nazi-controlled Paris on bicycles with
their clothes on their backs and five
books that she had written and he had
illustrated. The first Curious George
book was one of those five.
The
pair settled in Massachusetts, and Curious
George grew in acclaim from there. Today,
30 million copies of dozens and dozens
of Curious George books have been sold
worldwide.
The
inquisitive little monkey has just about
gone to infinite and beyond.
